Studying is an
essential element in retaining information and achieving high marks in school,
but often, students do not know how to study effectively. Of several B-UHS
students interviewed, many claimed they either don’t study or don’t study well.
While studying can become overwhelming, there
are ways to lessen the load and make it more reasonable. Studying for 30-50
minutes with ten-minute breaks is the best way to obtain and retain information.
Writing things out on paper multiple times is effective in “sticking” knowledge
to the brain. Most people aren't necessarily bad at studying, but they put it
off too long or don't do it enough. Studying as soon as possible, from the time
notes are taken until the time of the test, as many times as possible, is the
most effective way to gain information.
Even though most people don’t want to admit it,
sometimes saying, “It doesn’t work for me,” studying is a vital component to academic
success. For this reason, study habits help to make it easier if a student is
not skilled at studying, obtaining information, or hate studying. Trying these
tips might just save a student on very important tests like the ACT or SAT, or with
common math test.
