LGBT+ rights amendment

Morgantown City Council has been discussing LGBT rights and are currently considering an amendment. The council held a meeting on Tuesday, September 26th, discussing this topic. The amendment would be to a city code in relation to the LGBT community's rights. Most members of the audience showed support for the consideration for this amendment.

"They need more equal rights," Annie Kendall said when questioned about her opinion on how the LGBT community is treated now.

"I'm not too familiar with the rights in their entirety, but I do know that there are a lot of people who are against it, and it's concerning," AJ Colthart responded when asked how LGBT rights could be better in West Virginia.

"Depending on their beliefs, it could go a good way or a bad way,” Kendall said regarding to peoples’ reaction to the suggestion or passage of the amendment.

"I think it will be celebrated by most people. I think there'll be a parade or celebration for it," Ashtyn Goodman said when asked how she believed people will interact with the amendment and whether it will be accepted.

"Maybe people will be a bit more accepting of it because we're all human, you know? It's just marriage anyway," spoke AJ Colthart.
