Salt Lake police arrest a nurse for refusing to draw blood

A video that recently surfaced online shows a nurse in Salt Lake City, Utah, being placed under arrest for refusing to draw blood from an unconscious patient last month. Alex Wubbels, a nurse at University Hospital, told officers they could not draw blood to obtain a blood sample from the patient.

Wubbles explained to officers the hospital policy, which states that to retrieve a blood sample, the officers would need a warrant, have the person being drawn from in custody, or the patient would need to consent to having his blood drawn.
At the end of the video, Salt Lake detective Jeff Payne placed Wubbels under arrest and escorted her out of the hospital. She screamed for help as she was dragged out.
Wubbles says she asked hospital security “to have someone protect me because I felt unsafe from Officer Payne from the beginning.” Hospital security and university police refused, saying they could not protect her.
